You can talk about AI all day. You only really learn it by putting it to work. So I build my own tools, and these are the projects I’m working on now.

Atelier

Ten studios in one window

Atelier is a creative suite for Windows that I’m building in Rust. Ten studios in one window: photo editing, raw development, layout, vector drawing, video editing, motion graphics, writing, spreadsheets, painting and 3D.

Drop a file onto the window and it opens in the right studio. A studio you leave keeps working, so saving, exporting and rendering carry on while you’re busy elsewhere.

Artemisia

Painting studio, standalone or inside Atelier

Artemisia is a digital painting studio with a range of paper types, 26 brushes, layers and a colour mixer. The name refers to Artemisia Gentileschi, an Italian Baroque painter. You can use Artemisia as a standalone app or as a studio inside Atelier.

Here you see how the painting engine repaints a reference picture and builds up the horse stroke by stroke.

The built-in AI chat thinks along with you about composition, colour and painting technique.

Daedalus3D

3D studio, standalone or inside Atelier

Daedalus3D is a 3D studio for Windows, written in Rust, where you model, sculpt, create materials, animate and render with its own path tracer. All in one window.

The name refers to Daedalus, the inventive architect and inventor of Greek mythology. A fitting name for a studio where you shape ideas and bring them to life.

Thanks to the built-in MCP server, Claude Code, Codex and local models can model, create materials, animate and render directly in the open window. You can undo each call on its own.

MusicO1

An AI music studio, from one line to an album

In MusicO1 you start with one line of lyrics. The app writes up to four drafts, and a critic rates the hook, the imagery, the story and how it sings. Then it tells you what would make each part stronger.

You choose from 3,503 styles spanning 1955 to 2025. Set your song in 1962 and the lyrics won’t mention a mobile phone.

That’s how one idea becomes an album of 3 to 20 tracks, with covers and a single document holding every note for the studio.

Bolt 1.5

AI knowledge assistant

Bolt answers questions from the documents a company already has: manuals, datasheets and service notes. Ask in Dutch, English, German or Japanese.

Every claim gets a numbered source, and when you click it, the document opens on the page where it’s written.

A second AI model checks the answer against the same sources and visibly crosses out anything they don’t support. If it isn’t in the documents, Bolt simply says so.

Version 1.5 shows a product card as soon as you name a product, and it has a voice mode. Every question still goes through the same sources and the same check.

Norrvane is a fictional manufacturer created for the film.

Lucent

PC maintenance tool

Most PC cleaners I’ve tried are irritating. Red warnings and one upsell after another. Lucent takes a different approach.

It does what it should: scan first. A scan changes nothing. Nothing is removed until you choose to remove it. Documents, photos and passwords are never suggested for clean-up.

Before every registry change, Lucent makes a backup. No account, no annoying upsells or ads, and no tracking.
